Watching a lot of fitness influencers on Instagram and seeing them flaunt their abs have always made me go, “Wow! I want that!” and I swear by my life, that the want was very strong but the devout didn’t seem to simmer as strongly as my want and I put a hold on those abs. Now I am going to be honest with you, I am a working professional and a struggling actor, and there is already a lot happening in my life and I live by one simple rule which is to go with the flow and if you are someone looking to get those six pack abs, then I am going to let you know that it’s a strict discipline and you probably have to work year in and year out to be able to flaunt those bad boys and maintain it, unless you are genetically blessed.
Now I’d also want you to know that genetics is the key, and it can be a blessing and a curse for individuals trying to achieve abs. For some less amount of work is needed while for others it’s a long journey full of training without hitting that quit button. Treating your abs like every other muscle and choosing proper exercise and ab training program with consistent hard work and small weekly improvement compounded over months can yield a fantastic result.
Exercises such as crunches, bicycle, lying leg raise, Russian twist, planks need no equipment and can be done at home without weights. You can train your abs with this exercise fast with a circuit routine to burn them out. You can also do some heavier form of abs workout at gym like rope pull down, hanging leg raise, wood choppers or if you want to make your abs workout a fun one and a memorable one by yourself or with your friends then go out for kayaking. It is found that kayaking can give you six pack abs with that good paddling technique as it gives maximum propulsion for minimum effort. There are many exercises out there to get to your goals and you can always check them online or in YouTube. This one is my favorite one
Another main component on achieving abs beside working out is a balanced diet as it helps to lose overall body fat percentage. They say that the abs are made in the kitchen. You can exercise and do as many crunches as possible but if you don’t eat properly, no one is going to see them. So, it is important from your end to bring that determination into action and be able to say “NO” to sodas, sugary drinks like cocktails. A big no to alcohol and all the bad carbs such as candies, cookies, chips and pastries. Replace them with healthy carbs like brown rice, sweet potatoes and whole wheat pasta. Increase protein in your diet as it builds muscle and abs are nothing but muscles. Try increasing healthy fats such as avocados, nuts, olive oil, peanut butter as it will help keep full for longer time and slow the absorption of the bad carbs, also while giving your body energy.
Beside Diet, workout and discipline a positive mindset and a commitment to yourself will help you succeed in getting abs. This is something one has to reiterate to oneself and abide by all the time. Abs for a lot of people are to look aesthetically good. And I agree with it as it really makes you stand out in those summer pool parties but beside that it also has some really great health benefit. A proper abs workout to your training can help prevent diseases like heart attacks, blood pressure, breast cancer. A strong abdominal muscle means reduced lower back pain and an overall sports improvement.
