As I was writing an article on top 5 breeds of dogs to adopt, I knew I was going to write an article on Cats and today is the day I am writing about it. In this article I will be talking about my top 5 favorite species of cats to adopt. It’s completely personal and if some of you pet owners don’t see your fur baby in this list then I apologize. But do know that your pet is awesome, and all the pets are awesome.
I would like to take my time and quote this amazing quote by Theophile Gautier which reads “It is difficult to obtain the friendship of a cat. It is a philosophic animal… one that does not place its affections thoughtlessly.” And to all the cat lovers I can tell that nothing is more beautiful than loving your fur baby for their grace, beauty, independent personalities and many other attractive qualities. The fascination of cats is hard to define and thus choosing a right cat for as a companion is even harder and I hope this article will be helpful to everyone thinking of getting a feline friend. So lets dive into it and here are some of my favorite picks.
5. Bengal

The Bengal breed originated as human-made hybrid of a domestic cat and a leopard cat. The personality of this breed is as lovably friendly as any full-blooded domestic. This breed of cat has playful antics and a great personality. They are athletic and agile. These cats love to climb and will gravitate towards the highest point in any room. One of the main characteristics that make them so special as companion is their intelligence. These cats love water and when I say they love water I mean it. The owners of these cats better develop the habit of keeping their toilet lid down.
4. Maine Coons

Maine coon are one solid, rugged cat breed that can endure a harsh climate. And their popularity is mostly due to its large size, luxuriant coat, and intelligence. According to CFA’s registration totals, Maine Coons is the second most popular breed in America. They are truly adaptable as a family member and participate in all family routines, whether watching you channel surf from the comfort of couch or following room to room. Since theses cats have a thicker coat, they love water as opposed to the one with a thinner coat.

Persian cats are the next on this list. These cats have a very long, silky, glossy fur and resided in the province of Khorazan in Persia. Persian cats come in different color and also get along well with other pets.
1. American Shorthair

American Shorthair can be found all over the United States and has been lingering around for a long time.
